  6. Was that like when you scrunch a straw wrapper together and then put a drop of water on its accordion'd surface?

  10. Well if you actually go to the youtube page it does explain that its the sodium in the soysause thats causing the muscles to spasm. Apparently frog legs do something similar when salted.

  18. HI, I'M A VEGAN.

I DON'T EVEN EAT HONEY OR CHEESE BECAUSE IT REQUIRES ANIMAL LABOR TO MAKE.

I LIKE BEES, AND I LIKE COWS . MORE THAN I LIKE THE IMMIGRANTS THAT PICK MY VEGETABLES. :)

    1. if you like animals so much why do you eat all their food? sacrifice yourself to feed a poor hungry animal would be the right thing to do.

  21. My dad had a similar dish in china called "dancing shrimp" and yes above poster...Yes muscles do just "spasm" under the right conditions. The whole thoery behind Frankenstine. So I guess thiss is...FRANKENOCTOPUS!

  22. Franken squid actually...

  23. It's caused by the salt in the sauce. Explanation here: http://www.neatorama.com/2011/04/03/frog-legs-twitch-when-dashed-with-salt/

  25. Animal "labor", hahahaha."
"A spider conducts operations that resemble those of a weaver, and a bee puts to shame many an architect in the construction of her cells. But what distinguishes the worst architect from the best of bees is this, that the architect raises his structure in imagination before he erects it in reality. At the end of every labour-process, we get a result that already existed in the imagination of the labourer at its commencement."

  27. Whoa, even though I know the science behind it looking at it is still creeping me out. Needless to say I wouldn't eat that even if you pay me (unless you pay me really well)

  28. soooooo... if I pour some of that necromantic sauce on my dead grandma, she will be back to life?! :3

  29. @NoMore : I get you, I'm against animal suffering as I'm against other type of pointless-animal-suffering-activities like sportive hunt or fishing etc. I'm a misanthropist.
But you can't deny that it is our natural right to take (moderately of course) what we need from earth incluiding animals to feed on.
As long as they don't suffer, it's ok with me, this is just a bit fucked up, but is not animal cruelty since the squidy is already dead and it can't feel pain cause it doesn't have brains no more.
Many wild animals feed on they prey while it's still alive though, so, suffering it's actually part of nature.

  30. They are Japanese. What else do you expect? :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow, how fresh is that squid? I've had one like that before, with soy, but it never moved like that.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kind of disturbing (the first thing that I thought anyway).. I would prefer mine to be freshly killed before I were to eat it, not tortured with obviously acid-burning soy sauce. WTF JAPAN SERIOUSLY. Just saying....

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've always thought of this kind of sushi as animal cruelty. I wish Japan would wake up and realize it too.

  34. This is a reminder that there is indeed a practice in Asia were they keep trying to keep the fish or (any other animal) alive as they quickly throw it in boiling oil then straight to the plate to see it gasping for air. Also the one about the monkey placed in the center of the table with half of its head cut off as people take forks and eat parts of the brain as the monkey is screaming in pain.

  35. LE VIDEO'S DELETED...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Holy fuck, How can you even still want to eat after that XD

    ReplyDelete
  37. I thought this was another robot or something

    ReplyDelete
  38. It is a robot. Japan has robots you can eat now.
Oh, nvm... I read the explanation.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's dead. I think the sodium in the sodium in the soy sauce causes a chemical reaction to make the muscles to contract. It works with frog legs too

    ReplyDelete
  40. suddenly i get an hunger for RAW FISH GOLUM GOLUM GOLUM xD

    ReplyDelete
  41. If you watch the beginning closely it actually moves slightly BEFORE the soy sauce is poured on to it. It is reacting to movement and light, which means it is still somewhat aware of what's going on around it. That would lead me to believe that it feels the salt activating the nerves on a conscious level. It even tries to escape the bowl.

  42. Squid: "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?..."

    ReplyDelete
  43. The squid is dead. It's head is open and the brain is removed - the limbs of a squid can act autonomously for a limited period of time after the squid's death. It doesn't feel pain - it doesn't have a brain anymore.

    It is quite disturbing though.

    ReplyDelete
  44. This is... poor thing...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Murder! Tasty, tasty, murder....

    ReplyDelete
  46. ee Waiter.. can i get some more food please, the one you served me just left.

    ReplyDelete
  48. what's wrong with you people? it is obviously alive, being literally tortured without being able to express it because they make no sound.
