I'm in Tokyo. The Earthquake happened about 4 hours ago, and now everything's fine. A couple of aftershocks occur occasionally, but thank god for these buildings!

tsunamis are also expected to hit here in coastal areas of the Philippines as I am writing this so... hope the damage isnt widespread...

Yeah, the initial quake was pretty scary for me, but it was ok after that. I'm in Tokyo as well.

Al's Jizz? Really?

The terrorist network of choice that we know for a fact has fermented anti-Americanism across the entire Mid East and lead to a huge influx of foreign jihadists into Iraq and Afghanistan?

You just lost a regular viewer.

This mainstreaming of aljazeera is so fucked up.

They're totally funded by tyranical arab regimes for fuck sakes.

You must be a leftist. They seem to be really pushing for aljazeera lately.

Fuck that.

It would be like supporting Pravda during the Cold War.

Do you people have any brains at all?

hey Marsh626, guess what ? no everyone on this web site is american ! I just don't give a f*** what AlJazeera think about USA, I saw the way they have covered the tsunami and earthquake and it was ok, in a journalistic way I mean... Before critize other medias, look a yours ! How CNN and Fox News are soooo great and soooo impartial !

@ marsh626 HAHAHAAHAHAH, that was good.

Why the fuck is someone making political comments on here when there are people in Japan suffering? Seriously, go fuck yourself.

Anonymous said...

I agree, anyone making political comments and jabbing at the reports should never return to this site. I have family that live...or lived...in Sendai and are currently amongst the missing.

Anonymous said...

I hope your family is ok. thoughts and prayers are with them

in addition to going to the Red Cross website, texting REDCROSS to 90999 will let you make a $10 donation to the Red Cross, at least though cell-phone providers here in the states. Our hearts go out to you, anonymous, and everyone in the Pacific affected by this catastrophic event. If anyone can recover from something as awful as this, it's the Japanese.

Japan, as strange, kooky, intense, insular, anal retentive and mysterious as its society may sometimes appear to be by outsiders, all these qualities may be helping them cope with this monster earthquake and aftermath far better than any other society on Earth (including the US) ever could. You know if this happened on the US Pacific shores the ensuing chaos would make 9/11 and Katrina look like a days in the park. An earthquake many thousands of times less intense in Haiti has decimated their country even more completely than Japan's and yet still Japan's government is holding strong is barely even asking for outside help at this point.

Here's a good article describing how the selfless and cohesive mentality of the Japanese helps them through this...

This is a must watch video showing a first person view of the tsunami. It's almost as if it's a scene from a movie.
