In making that statement, you just compared movies with farm animals. And you're complaining two movies aren't comparable? Just like apples and oranges and horses and donkeys, a Japanese and an American movie about teenagers forced to slaughter each other for public entertainment are entirely comparable.
Agreed. In a world where what we see visually is what we first BASE OUR ASSERTIONS ON, The Hunger Games just didn't try to be different (or at least didn't look too different). Put a deaf guy in the theater seat with no captioning, he will make some comparisons between Battle royal and The hunger Games.
And i hate that posh pasty faced pink attire lady doing the announcements. how weak and stereotypically elitist was her appearance?..."YES, WE GOT IT, SHE VISUALLY REPRESENTS THE EVIL CORPORATIONS/POWERS THAT BE WHO ARE IN CHARGE OF THE H-GAMES COMPETITION...DON'T HIT US OVER THE F^%KING HEAD WITH THE IMAGERY, PLEASE."
I haven't seen the Hunger Games, but I read the books long before a film was talked about. I don't want to see the film simply because it can't deliver the story properly due to age restrictions and such... Battle Royale is probably a lot more Hunger Games esque than the Hunger Games film xD
Watched both Battle Royale movie countless of times and always loved it. Havent watched Hunger Games, but maybe shall watch it. The only thing I hate is seeing ppl who watched Hunger Games, and then watch Battle Royale, and start comparing the two, as though Hunger Games came out first. But idc. Just love horror and such type of movies.
Never saw hunger games, but this one is definitely one of my favourite films. I imported it on DVD when I was still in highschool.
I like it that they picked young and inexperienced actors. It gives a really nice 'cheap' feeling to the drama, which fits since they are all just highschool kids.
I wouldn't recommend watching the second movie though. Especially not if you liked the first one.
Hunger Games is good, but Battle Royale, even with its campy vibe, has more heart. Both the BR book and movie beat out the HG book and movie IMO, which is a pretty big deal for me to say because I got into HG before I heard of BR.
I'm really happy this is coming to Blu-ray. The book is infinitely better though.
ReplyDeleteIt's a deeply disturbing, but pretty powerful movie that certainly is worthwhile watching.
ReplyDeletegive me link =D

Deletemaybe its just me, but comparing hunger games to battle royale is kinda like comparing a horse to a donkey, look the same but are totally different.
