10 Minutes of... Something

I'm pretty desensitized to Japanese madness, but even I couldn't make it through this whole video.

  5. Jesus, it seemed to go on forever, some of it makes a little sense because its doing a parody of stuff but 90% is brain-melting insane. The sfx remind me of Dynamite Headdy on the Megadrive.

  10. is this like a Japanese version of robot chicken?

  12. did this actually use up ten minutes of tv air time? No wonder the japanese economy is going to... well i would say hell but what i just watched was hell, so i'm surprised that country is still on the map and doesn't live on in legend and myth like sodom and gommorah or el dorado and atlantis

  16. I made it through the whole thing but--

I'm not sure whether to laugh uncomfortably or cry.

I've seen everything on this site but this by far made me say "WTF" the most.

I think I'm going to go to bed and pretend I didn't just watch that.

  17. Does anyone know anything about this stuff? It just seems so weird. It feels like all of it
s out of context. Like coming into the end of a weird or uncomfortable conversation. It's just be interesting to know who created it and where the hell it came from. And... if it DID have a purpose. DX

  21. That was AWESOME!! What a great little series of 10 second adventures they just did in that little world. I bet these aired separately between segments on shows, like Robot Chicken or even Sesame Street. But watching them all back to back like that is crazy!! And kinda mesmerizing... I'm going back in.

  22. ...I want 9 minutes and 33 seconds of my life back.

  23. I think this is a social criticizm on the wartime period. The big muscled men are obviously a reference to the west, while the oranges are the east and the monkey are niggers. The big muscled men are often seen brutally oppressing the oranges and their kin(the fisherman guy, the caterpillar(which, i might add might be a silk worm), etc'). e.g. The caterpillar was trying to reach the peak of a mountain, just to have the effort wasted by the mean guy shaking him off(1:05); Some oranges are seen to commit suicide bombings, a la kamikaze(5:04); The monkey is seen trying to live up to the muscled men, but fails miserably(5:15); etc' etc'

Of course, some segments might just be seasonal references or just comic relief, but most of them, i believe, can have a political(as with 8:45 where we see a foreigner(the little egg thingie) climbing japan's social ladder, assumably to poison it from within), moral(the oranges cheating in 4:18), or social(oranges interrupting another's reading at 5:33) criticism derived from them.

  24. MikanSeijin Awa and Aniki are very old, but I never found so big a compilation of both, and it was aired like this in Japan (you can see by the clock stamp)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Correction, MikanSeiJin Hour.

By the way, in Japan, the older brother is supposed to be the best example of all.

(dare ni mo yasashiku aniki iru hito) you are such a good person, big brother!

  32. by the third minute my sanity began to slowly slip away, by the fifth i felt a stroke coming, so i had to stop for a while. at 6th i laughed hysterically at the spaceship explosion, now i am in awe, but i also have trouble typing. i think i'm damaged.
btw, it reminds me of terry gilliam's interludes in 'mpfc'.

  37. I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!

This is a compilation of fillers from a show called ウゴウゴルーガ (UgoUgo Ruga). It was an early early morning kids(?) show full of weird stuff. Kinda like Sesame Street for messed up kids. If I remember correctly its from early 90's.

  49. Mhuahaha I mentally called it! I watched it all the way through and it reminded me of sesame street in its tune and sillyness. Scrolled down through the comments and it was confirmed! I'd like to imagine it being more of their "pee wee's playhouse" for that silliness though :3
